	<title>Low Carb</title>
	<description>
It seems like there is always something. Just when we solve one problem another one just creeps up on us, offering yet another challenge in our already hectic lives. The same goes for those on a low carb diet. We are so glad to have found an option that has worked for thousands of people. You stick to the diet and never deviate from the restrictions you have imposed upon yourself for the purpose of having a healthier more beautiful body. The pounds start melting away and you can finally fit into your favorite pair of jeans again. Thank goodness for the low carb craze!

But, what's this? Oh yeah, did they forget to tell you in your low carb book? That's right, your breath stinks! Now what?

Where can you find low carb snacks that do NOT cause this problem?

Beating Your Low Carb Bad Breath
At the beginning of a low carb diet, your intake is almost pure protein. This causes the body to burn fat instead of carbs for energy. When the fat is burned like this it creates a by-product called ketones and they have the nasty habit of accumulating in your bloodstream as well as your saliva, and as you might have guessed--ketones stink. Just a fun side effect of low carb diets!

Another result of your low carb diet is that the bacteria in your mouth start producing more sulfur compounds as they mix with foods high in protein. But fear not! This may be a big drawback to your low carb diet, but it doesn't have to be a deal-breaker.

You just have to be aware that this is a result of low carbs and you can take measures to mask the nasty smell building up in your mouth by doing the following:

  Chewing gum or sucking on a candy helps, just make sure that the gum or candy is sugarless.
  Drink a lot of water throughout the day to wash away a lot of the sulfur and odor-cousing bacteria.
  Brush your teeth after eating anything low carb related (a little flossing goes a long way too when it comes to bad breath). Using one of the toungue scrapers that lets you reach the back of your mouth will get rid of much of the sulfur compounds.

If you are having good results with your low carb diet, then by all means stick with it and keep eating all that low carb food. You should be very proud of yourself for making such a healthy effort in life. It'll pay off, we guarantee it - just be aware that your low carb recipes might be giving you a bit of halitosis.
