Low Carb Shakes

Low carb shakes are a convenient way to get nutrients when you're on the run. But if you're new to the low carb world, low carb shakes might not be what you expect at first. Ask around to find the best.

Low Carb Shakes

Need a meal on the go? When you are running late and need a fast breakfast or lunch, low carb shakes can be your saving grace. But similar to low carb bars, you have to be careful because some taste good, but some don't.

Confusion About Low Carb Shakes

If you're new to the world of low carb dieting, you're probably also new to the world of low carb food and low carb snacks. But there's a common misconception about low carb shakes that we'd like to clear up. These "shakes" aren't like the shakes you'd get at McDonald's or Dairy Queen. First of all, they don't have that thick, ice-cream like texture. Second, most of them aren't made with milk, so they aren't even that thick. And finally, some of them are made to drink cold or warm. So if you're expecting low carb shakes to be these thick, rich luscious treats, think again.

Now that your expectations have been lowered, here's what you can expect from low carb shakes. Some of them are going to taste good. Some of them are going to be bad. Most of them are thin because they're made with water instead of milk. Before you blindly buy one, ask around your gym or employees at a nutrition store for their opinions or surf the Internet for ratings.

How Low Carb Shakes are Helpful

Low carb shakes are great when you need a fast meal. When your options are being late because you eat breakfast or skipping breakfast so you'll be on time for work or school, don't skip breakfast. But you don't have to be late either. Just grab a low carb shake (or a low carb bar) and have it on the way to wherever you're going. However, even though low carb shakes are convenient meal replacements, you should not habitually replace actual meals with low carb shakes or bars. Nothing replaces the nutrients provided in the actual food you eat on your low carb diet.
