Carbohydrate

So just what is it about a little thing called a carbohydrate that has everyone so stirred up?

There's so much information about carbohydrates, good and bad, it's hard to tell what to take and what to toss.

But we will try nonetheless.

The full carbohydrate facts, dogs
Fact #1: We need 130 grams of carbs a day to be healthy.

Fact #2: Most of us eat a lot more than 130 grams of carbs a day.

Fact #3: Most low carbohydratediets, if followed correctly really can help you lose a lot of weight in a relatively short period of time.

Fact #4: Most low carbohydrate diets don't allow you enough carbs.

Fact #5: There are some carbohydrates that are good for you.

This should explain all you need to know. Examine this diagram and it'll be easy to see what makes up a low carbohydrate diet, along with why it's good for you.

Considering those facts, going on a low carbohydrate diet might be a good idea, but don't go below 130 grams of carbs a day. For most people, that kind of "low carbohydrate" eating alone can result in significant weight loss (especially if it's combined with exercise).

Limiting yourself to 130 grams of carbohydrates a day is a lot easier if you stay away from bad carbohydrates and only eat good carbohydrate foods like whole grains, fruits and vegetables. These foods are fiber-rich, meaning they will make you feel full longer, and you'll invariably eat less. That is the key to limiting the excess carb intake without being on the stereotypical, adverse low carbohydrate plan that may or many not actually work. It also helps if you're a good carbohydrate counter. You can receive help for this online. There are many great resources available if you just poke around.

Going low carbohydrate counting doesn't mean you have to restrict your intake.

Choose the right carbs in the right amount instead. There you have that.
