How are the new low carbs diets different to the Atkins diet?

Well, what is all the fuss about? Since the Atkin's diet took off in a huge way a few years back, there have been a flurry of new low carbs diets to hit the market every year. The Atkin's diet is still one of the strictest low carbs diets on the market. The trend in the last year has been to cut back on carbs rather than eliminate them altogether. Thus the new low carbs diets on the block encourage more of a balanced diet with the emphasis on low carbs and not 'no carbs' and lots of exercise.

We now have so much information about low carbohydrate diet fads that we can even create our own diet of sorts that will fit in with our lifestyle and food tastes.

The reason why low carbs diets are now favoring a less extreme approach is due to the negative feedback the Atkin's diet has received. Some Atkin's dieters complained of experiencing negative side effects such as constipation, headaches, dizziness and moodiness. The Atkin's diet has also received some bad press from the medical world due to it being high in fat, low in fiber and nutritional value and if followed over a long period of time could have negative consequences for people's health. Additionally, the Atkin's diet did not encourage dieters to exercise. Increasingly, exercise is being seen as the key to healthy and long-term weight loss.

Do your research about low card diets

If you are thinking about starting a new diet you should do plenty of research into the different diets out there. You should think about your lifestyle, likes and dislikes before choosing a diet that's right for you. You don't want to waste money, time and effort on a diet that is not a good fit for you. This may ultimately lead to failure and may put you off dieting altogether. To research low carbs diets you can use the internet, talk to friends and go and sit in a bookstore for an hour or two. Choosing the right low carbs diet for you will hopefully lead to success and a happier and thinner you!
